A tabbed word processor based on Microsoft WordPad's word processing engine.

Jarte is a completely free word processor which was originally based on Microsoft's WordPad, usually found on most Windows installations since Windows 95 and up until current day Windows XP and above operation systems.

While WordPad does not normally contain many features which are available to the user, Jarte is able to unlock these features and provides users with a rather powerful and fully-featured word processing application.

Jarte is extremely handy to have around, small enough to fit on to a USB stick and powerful enough to take advantage of many features not (by default) available from within WordPad.

We highly recommend this application if you want a freeware word processor, but don't have the time and/or cash to splash on a copy of Microsoft Office or Corel WordPerfect. Though OpenOffice still remains an option.

Compatibility and License

Jarte is a restricted version of commercial software, often called freemium which requires you to pay a license fee to unlock additional features which are not accessible with the free version. Download and installation of this software is free, however other similar programs are available from office software which may have what you need. 5.2 is the latest version last time we checked.
